Gender Inequality Index by UNDP

The United Nations Development Programme publishes The Gender Inequality Index as part of the human development report. It measures gender inequalities in three important aspects of human development: health, empowerment and labor.

The index ranks countries using five indicators:

  1. Maternal mortality ratio.
  2. Adolescent birth rate.
  3. Proportion of parliamentary seats occupied by females.
  4. Proportion of adult females and males aged 25 years and older with at least some secondary education.
  5. Labour force participation rate of female and male populations aged 15 years and older
