Human Development Report by UNDP

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) publishes The Human Development Index. The index attempts to measure the human development across three dimensions: a long and healthy life, being knowledgeable and having a decent standard of living.

The reports ranks 188 countries using four quantitative indicators:

  1. Life Expectancy
  2. Mean Years of Schooling
  3. Expected Years of Schooling
  4. GNI Per Capita ($PPP)

UAE in focus (2016)

The UAE is ranked 42 worldwide, sustaining its position as last year (with the backtrack) with score of 0.840. Regionally, the UAE is 4th in MENA and 3rd in GCC. The UAE still maintained its place amongst the countries with “very high human development”; highest category in the report. UAE score sustained in Life Expectancy, Expected Years of Schooling, Mean Years of Schooling and improved in GNI Per Capita ($PPP).
